I am home now.  Monday, Tim and John had class so I had them drop me off at the Metro station in the morning and I went into the city alone.  My first stop was union station and then I walked down to the capitol building where I managed to get tickets for a tour.  That building is amazing.  When I finished up there I took a walk through one of the neighborhoods next to the Capitol on my way to the Metro Station.  I finished up the american history museum and took a walk down to the tidal basin to get a few more photos of the cherry blossoms.  I got to watch the sun set on DC and got some cool photos of the capitol at night.  All in all a good day but damn I was tired.  Yesterday was spent packing and getting lunch with John and Tim.  I’m going to miss those guys.  Now I’m home and have to work at 3.  I have a mountain of photos to go through so I will still be posting some of the better ones as I get them edited.

Vacation day 3

So it’s day three and I’m still keeping up with this. It was still really overcast today but that didn’t stop us form taking a trip to the city. We took a walk around the West side of the national mall, Lincoln memorial, Washington monument, Jefferson memorial, WWII memorial. The cherry blossoms are almost in full bloom and I got some great pictures. Even now I can see why everyone talks about how great DC is in the spring. The one disappointment is that they are doing work on the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln memorial and it is pretty much torn apart. After our walk around the monuments, we took lunch at an irish pub in china town… Yes I am aware of the irony, and then went to the air and space museum. The weather has been cold and we are expecting snow flurries this weekend to my surprise.

Tonight was nice just hanging with old friends. I got to see my friend Danny who I haven’t seen in years. If I stay here too long, them may convince me to move up here.

Vacation day 2

Today was an absolutely gloomy day. It was supposed to rain today we we didn’t go into the city, instead I got a tour of the University of Maryland. What a beautiful campus. I got a chance to see their school of music and the theater complex… Very impressive. It made me a little jealous. The cherry blossoms are everywhere. Tomorrow, it looks like we are taking a trip to the Smithsonian. I love that place.
