The Matchbox

I’m a big fan of negative space. This one has plenty of it but with some texture. I’m also a fan of repeating ideas in photography. It’s like visual rhythm, something I can relate to as a percussionist.

I’m still in the process of editing and organizing all the photos I took in DC but I wanted to post this one.  I decided to take advantage of the cloudy day and make this photo a little more dramatic then it was originally.  I used Nik’s HDR software to do some tone compression and make it black and white.  I think it’s pretty cool.

So, shortly after I uploaded that last image, I was checking my email and saw I received an email form Nik Software about my copy of Silver Effects Pro 2.  I downloaded it and tried it out with the park bench photo.  I love that software.  I think I like this photo better in Black and White.

There’s something about railroad tracks and B&W photos….they just go well together.

Another photo that ended up looking better in Black and White.  I was actually going to trash this one but decided to see how it looked in B&W.

It’s funny how a photo I really didn’t think was all that great looks so much better to me in Black and White.
